- 1947
- Yamagata Prefectural Agriculture and Forestry College was established in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture.
- 1949
- Yamagata Prefectural Agriculture and Forestry College was developed into the Faculty of Agriculture at Yamagata University.
- 1950
- Tsuruoka Branch of the University Library was established.
- 1957
- Department of Agricultural Engineering was established.
- 1959
- Postgraduate Courses of Agriculture and Forestry were established.
- 1961
- Postgraduate Course of Agricultural Engineering was established.

- Department of Agricultural Chemistry was established.

- Department of Horticulture and Fruit Science was established.

- Tsuruoka Branch of Information Processing Center was established.

- United Graduate School (Three-year Doctoral Course) of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University was established by merging three graduate schools of agriculture at Iwate, Hirosaki and Yamagata University.
- 1991
- The Departments of Agriculture, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural
Chemistry. and Horticulture and Fruit Science were reorganized into two Departments, Bioproduction and Bioenvironment.
- 1994
- Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine joined to the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University.
- 1995
- Master Courses of Agriculture, Forest, Agricultural Engineering. Agricultural Chemistry, and Horticulture and Fruit Science were reorganized into two courses, Science of Bioproduction and Science of Bioenvironment.
- 1996
- Faculty of General Education in Yamagata University was dissolved.
- 1998
- The Departments of Bioproduction and Bioenvironment were reorganized into three
Departments, Bioproduction, Bioresource Engineering and Bioenvironment.
- 2002
- Master Courses of Science of Bioproduction and Science of Bioenvironment were
reorganized into three courses, Science of Bioproduction, Science of Bioresource Engineering, Science of Bioenvironment.
- 2006
- There is a major in Crybiosystems Science at the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University.
- 2006
- Adjunct Yamagata Field Science Center was established after reorganizing adjunct farms and forests for studying.
- 2010
- Department of Food, Life and Environmental Sciences was established by combining Bioproduction, Bioresource Engineering and Bioenvironment (Safe and Reliable Agricultural Production, Management of Food, Agriculture and Environment, Food and Applied Life Sciences, Plant and Bioresource Sciences, Forest Science, Environment Science and Technology for Water and Land Use).

- Reorganized six courses in one department into three courses in one department (Agri-Science, Bio-Science, Eco-Science).
